It lets users create applications that work on different devices, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops. The primary purpose of this tool is to provide developers with a universal platform that combines JavaScript, ActionScript, Flex, HTML, and Adobe Flash. The software is quite powerful and provides tools that can help you enhance the user experience, irrespective of the device on which the app runs. What is Adobe Air and why do I need it?Īdobe’s AIR is short for Adobe Integrated Runtime application, which lets developers create apps that can run on multiple platforms without needing any additional coding requirements. Furthermore, when using this developer tool, you can expect bitmap control, enhanced rendering, and a high-end user experience. In addition to this, it provides various tools for building 3D games and advanced applications. The great thing about this software is that it lets developers run apps on different operating systems without coding in another language. If that doesn't work I'll show you where the registry entry is.Adobe AIR is a free and powerful app development software that you can download on your Windows computer. (See where the arrow is pointing) I have no idea why it shows Version 1.0 because, as you can see, the "dll" file date is yesterday when I upgraded it to 3.3ĭelete the whole ADOBE AIR sub-directory and sub-sub-directories reboot then try installing ADOBE AIR again. BRUTE FRAKING DELETION of the sub-directory where your copy resides. Since you've done everything possible I'd do what I do when something won't work. ADOBE AIR is certainly NOT a matter or life or death. I think I've seen, at one time or another, an additional "gadget" that used it but I can't remember. The only thing on my computer that I'm aware of that actually uses ADOBE AIR is my Bright House (cable company) "Easy Gadget" that pops up when I get a phone call and also maintains a call log. Is there any truly NECESSARY reason for me to even have Adobe Air on my computer, or is it something I can easily do without? My apologies for having to re-post.but I neglected to ask this: PS I just updated my Win7(32-bit) laptop without a problem (though I know this doesn't help you). HTH until someone more expert arrives/returns, Perhaps you can try to uninstall it from another user account with admin privileges, or perhaps boot into Safe Mode and try to uninstall it that way? Perhaps there's something helpful for you there. I found this link to an official Adobe webpage with links to various troubleshooting tutorials, including uninstall issues: So, having an older, insecure version on your system would seem to be a bit of security vulnerability. However, (as with everything Adobe - Flash Player, Shockwave Player, Reader/Acrobat, Photoshop, etc) it probably would be important from a security standpoint to keep one's installation up to date. I'm not any kind of expert, but I don't think one "needs" or "must have" Adobe Air. Sounds as if something might be corrupted in your Air installation, and/or a "privileges" problem (though you mention you are running from an Admin account).
